Can I Used A Wireless Router To Connect To Another Wireless Router In My House?

My dad just replaced our wireless router at home cause it was getting old. Now it’s laying around, with absolutely no use.
But i’d like to play xbox live in my room, which is on the other side of my house, without buying a wireless game adapter for it.
Can I use my old router to connect to my current one?
I basically want to use it as a wireless receiver, but I assume it was made to send the connection, not to receive it.
Can I still use it for this purpose?

No, you can not use two routers in a home network environment. The router’s job is to get you an IP address from your ISP – a task impossible without being connected to the modem.
